an eventful day

This morning I shared my concern about Little John's lack of poop with my mom. (2 days with no poop?!) She was equally concerned. Which is why we both nearly did backflips when he pooped this morning. Then we giggled like school girls when Josh started changing his diaper and he pooped again. And again.

The bonus pooping led to another sponge bath for Little John. Which bath is clearly the reason his cord stump fell off a few hours later - now he needed another bath. Thanks Murph The real kind this time just because now we can. I hate hate hate the stump and was extraordinarily relieved.

The feeling of relief must have motivated Tommy to learn to open doors and come out of his room a handful of times before falling asleep tonight. A mom of two boys is only allowed to feel relief for a few minutes you know. And a mom whose boy has just discovered the ability to escape from any room feels decidedly un-relieved.

Turnabout's fair play

Every spring I laugh at all the poor suckers who live in Utah (some who are new to it and some who should know better) who get all excited for summertime when it starts warming up in early March.

I laugh because I know better (and so should they) than to think it is done snowing. I know very well that anything they plant will freeze. And I REALLY know that the swimming pool doesn't open until Memorial Day no matter how hot it is before then. Because until Memorial Day there is always a chance of snow in this state.

So why is it that last weekend I got all excited about the cooler fall weather? The random rainstorms? The evenings worthy of opening windows and sitting on the porch? Why did I think "oh my gosh! Fall is coming!"? Why didn't I laugh at me - knowing VERY well that Summer isn't over. Anything I fail to water will burn, and the pool will be open until Labor Day because before Labor Day there is always a chance of 100+ degrees in this state?

Somewhere some summer-loving psycho is laughing at me. And it'll be 7 more months before I get to laugh back. *sigh*

I figured it out

When I was restocking my year's supply of toilet paper, I found the reason I got pregnant so fast (don't worry....it's G-rated). For the past 2 years, I've been purchasing my "feminine hygeine products" in the smallest packages possible....you know....just in case we miraculously got pregnant right away.

Just before we went to the Dr. and I knew I was starting on the long long road of figuring out what was wrong with me, I finally decided to just bite the bullet and acknowledge that this whole process would take a while.

Boom! 45 days later, I have no use for these babies.

Thanks Murph.

PS You should also know it's my fault it snowed this week. Last weekend I washed my car. The one that's been sitting in the garage for more than 3 months. What was I thinking?

PPS I just read the "Murph" link, just to clarify, I don't think getting pregnant was something that "went wrong"....I think my buying tampons at Costco was wrong. Also I probably stood in the longest line there was to check out - I always do that.
